How to remove or replace a loose or damaged tailgate on your vehicle on 98 Ford F-150

In this video, we're going to be working with our 1998 Ford F-150. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your vehicles tailgate.

There are no tools required for this procedure.
Open your tailgate part way. Lift up and remove the tailgate cables. These generally have a little metal tab on them that you need to lift up to get past the bolt, and with your tailgate open about this far, slide up the passenger side, and slide over, and remove your tailgate from the truck.
To reinstall your tailgate, slide the driver’s side hinge into place. Lift up and slide the passenger’s side on. Re-engage your cables and you're good to go.
