Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to remove and reinstall the outer tail light on this Volvo S70. This is a '98 model. This is pretty straight forward. We go over if you're just changing a bulb, as well as replacing the whole assembly, if it's been broken, and the only tool you'll need is an 8mm socket with a ratchet, and extension.
So for these tail lights, if you're just looking to replace a bulb, or you want to replace the whole tail light because of an accident, there's a doorway back here. Pull it off, and then to just replace the bulb, pull down on this tab, and pull this whole light panel right out. So, here's your bulbs, and they all just . you push in, turn counterclockwise, and they come out.
If you need to replace your tail light, there are four 8 millimeter nuts there. Up there, another one right over there, and then one down there. You remove those 8 millimeter nuts. To remove them, I'm using a 8mm socket with an extension, and a ratchet. We kind of just push stuff out of the way a little bit. Get your socket on there, and then once you start the nut off, it's easy enough to just reach in with your hand. Spin it off the rest of the way. Just be careful not to drop it. Just fast forward here as I take off the other three fasteners. Once you have all four nuts off, pull your light right out.
Put your light back in. There is a tab here that goes in a hole there. Make sure that's lined up. That should go right into place. Restart your four 8 millimeter nuts. Just, again, be careful not to drop them. I'll fast forward here again, and again, put the nuts on. Thread them on there by hand, get them hand tight, and then use your socket ratchet and extension to tighten them up. Tighten them snug. You don't want to over tighten them and break anything.
Once you've gotten everything tightened up, just take your panel back, put it in place, press the bottom in first, then push in up there, and then put this back in place.
