In this video we'll be showing you how to replace a taillight on a 1998 Nissan Altima. This procedure is basically the same for all 1997 to 2006 Nissan Altima's.
Locate your light. We're going to work on the passenger side. There are some clips that hold this trunk mat. You just kind of pull the clips out and pull the trunk mat and the trunk liner back. Then you can see there are four bolts, there, there, there and then in this little access hole. They're 8mm bolts. Once those are removed, then the light pulls away from the body. There's a little button to push on the harness. That pulls apart. Your light's free.
Now if you have a broken light obviously you can replace the whole assembly or you can service your bulbs. They all twist out. That little middle one was kind of a problem on our car. They twist out. Then they push back in and twist in. It's the same thing. Then the middle one is a little bit of a problem to get back in too. There are two smaller teeth and one larger tooth that you have to line up correctly. Round peg, square hole. Then after that, just put it back in and hook up the harness. It's not really that difficult. I just couldn't get it lined up with one hand. Push the light back in. You have four 8mm nuts. Thread them all. Then tighten them up. You're good to go. Again, this is correct for a '97 to '06 Altima.
