    Trim Tool Set

Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!

Open up the hatch. We need to pop this plastic trim out. I'm going to use our plastic trim tool, or you can use a flat-bladed screwdriver. Just kind of work it out of here. Get some clips just like that. Go up and out. There are two 10-millimeter bolts holding it in here. Loosen these up. The taillight is bolted here, and then it's sitting on pins on the outside part. After the two bolts are removed, there's two pins that are going straight into the body, so I need to pull them off there.

I'm going to use this plastic prying tool. You can get these from 1AAuto.com. I just want to work this in and not damage the paint. Get under here with this prying tool. Those are in there with quite a bit of force. That was on that pin that went into here, and the same thing, this pin down here went into here.

Once you get the light separated from the body, if you want to change the bulbs, the side marker bulb is in here. Pull it out. It's a little 194 peanut bulb. Just pull it straight out of the socket and reinstall it. With this turn signal bulb, turn it to open it. It's a 7440. Pull it straight out of the socket to change it. Push it right back in. Replace it. That'll sit in here. Find the opening for it. Lock that in place.

This little thing popped off, this little vent. Pop that back on. This one here, this is the brake light bulb. It's actually LED, so you should, theoretically, never have to change this. If it does fail, you would have to replace this entire lamp assembly because it's a single unit that's in here. There's a circuit board, if I can get this out. There's a little circuit board in here for the LEDs, so that's all integrated inside of the tail lamp, so if that fails, it needs to be replaced as a whole unit.

To reinstall it, there are these pins here and here. They line up with these clips here and here. We're going to push those in. Get lined up and push it right in. Now it's locked in place. Going to reinstall the two 10-millimeter bolts. Just going to tighten those down. When I feel them get tight, I will stop. No need to kill them. The tail lamp's bolted up. I'm going to reinstall the plastic trim cover. Let's get some clips. You're going to go just in here like this. Pop them over. Get this one locked in. All right, the tail lamp's replaced.
