How to Replace Tail Light 1993-99 Volkswagen Jetta

In this video we're going to show you how to service the rear outer taillights, the ones that are mounted to the rear fender. We show you both just if you need to change the bulb as well as if you need to change the whole taillight. We sell both the GLX smoke styled as well as the basic model GL red an amber style. Tools you'll need to just change your bulb, you shouldn't need any tools, to change the whole taillight assembly you'll need an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension.

What you want to do is ... sometimes this come on or you can pull the one of the strip off and actually somebody that kind of have a nice job of actually duct taped the back of it into the tail here so pull that off. Just pull that back. If you're just looking to change the bulbs, we'll tab here, pull that tab and you should be able to ... then there's a tab on the other side here. It goes come right out. New bulbs push in, turn it counter clockwise and it come out, install this lapse it right push in, turn clockwise, lock them in. Take the whole light out, there's a few 8mm nuts, one here, one up here and then one right down here.

Use an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension and probably pretty possible to get just a regular wrench in here, just one first. Again, I'm just going to speed up here as I remove those three nuts. They're pretty easy once you get them started, they actually just come right off by hand. Remove those out. Hold it, push this right up. The light from 1AAuto comes with the gasket and everything and somebody would put this is a GL model, somebody put the smoked GLS. We do sell the style taillight and as well as the correct GL taillights. The new ones from 1AAuto going to go right in. Done here correctly. Just going to start my nuts back on.

Fast forward here again. I put all three nuts on. First, make sure there's no wires getting pinched draining like that and then just tighten them up, tight them up firm you don't want to over tight them, you could break the light if you over tighten them the nuts to hold it in. We got the light back in here and these nuts are pretty tightened up. Then we all have to do is take our lights back in, I'm going to stream up and use the duct tape a little bit.
