Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video we're going to show you how to replace the taillights on this 2002 Suzuki XL-7. It's the same part and process on these vehicles from 2001 to 2003. The items you'll need for this are new taillights from 1AAuto.com, a 10mm socket and ratchet, a flat blade screw driver, and electrical tape or a rag to avoid scraping the paint on the vehicle.
Start off by opening your trunk and your driver's side taillight's held on with these two 10mm bolts. On the passenger side, it's the same thing, two 10mm bolts. However, this one's a little bit harder to get out, so we're going to show you on this one. We'll just fast forward as Don removes those two 10mm bolts. We wrap our flat blade screw driver in electrical tape to avoid scraping the paint as someone has done in the past. You could also just use a thin cloth and put that around the screw driver. You want to just put this behind the taillight and pry out and at the bottom do the same thing. Now angle the tailgate, and the taillight will fall down and out. To remove it the rest of the way just push the tab on this harness and pull it free.
If you're just looking to service your bulbs, you can just twist the socket out, pull the bulb out, push the new one in, and twist it back into place. The other two are the same procedure. You just twist them counterclockwise. Take the bulb out. Put the new one in. Twist them clockwise to lock them.
On the left, is the old taillight. On the right, is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and will mount exactly the same. Take your new taillight and connect the harness. Angle your tailgate. Then fit the taillight through. Then line up those two pins and push the taillight into place. We'll just fast forward as Don replaces those two 10mm bolts. You're all set.
