Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service a tail light on this 2000 Nissan Altima, the same as a 2000, 2001, and basically the same for 1998 to 2001. If you're just looking to service the bulb you don't need any tools. If you do need to replace a broken tail light or something like that then you will need an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
First of all, remove this thumb screw here. Obviously, if you have one of the cargo nets you'll need to remove that. This just comes off counterclockwise, and then pull this trim down and out of the way. If you're just looking to change bulbs, they just twist counterclockwise and pull out, and then the bulbs pull straight out from there. There are three different bulbs.
To replace the whole assembly there are four 8mm nuts: one, two, a third one down there, and then a fourth one that you access right in through here. You'll want to disconnect this harness. It's just pushing a little tab there and pulling that out. You'll probably want an 8mm socket with an extension and ratchet. It's easy to get in here and get this bolt, or this nut out.
We'll speed up here as we just remove those four nuts. Pretty much, once you get them loose they come off by hand, so they're relatively easy to get out. Now the light comes right out. New one from 1A Auto, see, comes all ready to go right in place. Fast-forward here as we just put the four nuts back on. The one lower one that you have to access through the hole, put it into your socket and extension, and then thread it on that way. Then, tighten them up nice and firm.
