Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!

This tail lamp seal is broken. It's got condensation in it. It's even got water puddled in the bottom. This is no good. You can short out the bulbs. It's not going to pass inspection in this state. So we are going to replace it.

Open the trunk. On the back side of this tail lamp, unscrew this little cargo net holder. Just pull the carpet back. Unplug the main harness of the tail lamp from the body. Push down on this clip. Pull it apart.

There are four 8 millimeter nuts on studs holding the tail lamp into the body. Use our 8 millimeter deep socket and a ratchet to loosen them up and remove them. Reach back here, push the lamp away from the body, and kind of break the seal. I'm just going to pull it straight out. The rubber is kind of stuck to the body. Pull the whole tail lamp assembly right off.

See, it does have a tab here that's going to meet up to this spot here. You see the water in there?

Take our replacement housing and this tab is going to meet into this little grommet in the body, but basically it's going to go straight in. Kind of try to line up the studs at the same time. Push the lamp straight in. I'll hold the tail lamp with my hand so it doesn't fall out. Get these 8 millimeter nuts started. With these started, I'm going to tighten them back up. You don't have to go super tight with them because they're just metal studs in the plastic. When I feel it get tight, I'm going to stop. Reconnect the electrical connector. It sits up in there. Push the carpet back into place. Tail lamp is swapped.
