In this video, we're going to be working with our 2006 Chrysler 300, 3.5-liter V6. We're going to show you how to install one of these Mopar strut tower braces to stiffen up your chassis. Now this is a factory component for the HEMIs and the larger displacement engines and Chrysler 300 Cs, but it will bolt right into the 2.7Ls and the 3.5Ls as well, and we'll show you how to do that.

Here are the items you'll need for this installation: 13mm socket, ratchet, 14mm wrench, torque wrench, metal drill bits up to 13/32, 5 ½ allen key, drill, paper towels, gloves
After opening your hood, you'll want to locate all of these black plastic push tabs along this cowl cover here. You could remove this fully, but for what we're doing I don't think it's necessary to remove this all the way. It'll save you some time and hassle in assembling this strut bar. With all of those removed, we have enough room to lift up and ensure that there's nothing back here. We also have enough room to secure the nuts onto the studs once we've drilled our holes. Using a 13mm socket and ratchet, remove all three of the strut bolts on each side of the vehicle for a total of six bolts. We'll do this using our 13mm socket, ratchet, and extension. Place your strut brace over the bolts on either side.
For some applications you may need to raise the vehicle slightly to lower those studs down into the holes and make it easier to install your strut brace. We have our vehicle on a lift, but you can easily lift the front end with a jack. Once you have the brace lined up, start any nuts you can. You may have to lift up on the wheel and tire in order to get a nut started. With the weight back on you should be able to finish installing your hardware. Use the bushing as a reference point to center your strut brace. Those look about even there. With everything installed and centered, we'll tighten our hardware down and then torque it to 30 foot-pounds.
Using a 13/32" drill bit, and a paper towel to catch anything that spills out here, I want to drill this hole straight through the chassis brace under our cowl. Carefully remove the paper towel and discard the metal filings, and we'll move it over to the other side here. Drill that hole as well. Now we'll install the bolts supplied with your kit through the strut brace. Carefully place a washer in between the brace and the chassis bar. Go ahead and slide that bolt all the way through. At which point we'll install our second washer and the nut. Repeat these steps with the other bolt. Using a 14mm wrench to secure the nut on the back side, torque the bolt to 10 foot-pounds with a 7/32" Allen key or a 5.5mm Allen key.
Reinstall your plastic clips.
