How to change a flat tire and install your spare on 14 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Hi. I'm Mike from 1AAuto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
Change the spare tire. Open the hatch. Lift up on the cargo liner and go underneath. All your spare tire and tools are located here. The screwdriver flips over to be used as a flat bladed screwdriver. Here are: the jack, the towing eye, jack handle. We're going to take this out. We need to use these tools. The jack handle is over here in the foam. Take that out. Unscrew the spare tire. Set that aside. Take the spare tire out.
In our tool kit, take our jack out. Get that setup there. It goes this way. Before I even jack up the vehicle, we're going to loosen up the lug nuts while it's on the ground. Take our lug wrench and break them free. Obviously, this tire is not flat. We're just doing this to show you.
This will be the same front and rear, there's a spot in the frame rail, these two notches on both sides of the care. We're going to bring the jack up. This slot is going to going around this seam. Take our jack handle and lift this up. The wheel comes off the ground, just off the ground. You can check it with the jack handle. Yep, it’s not touching the ground.
Finish taking off the lug nuts. The wheel is starting to come off, so I'm just going to hold it. Help the lug nut come off. I have to get that with my fingers. Take the wheel off. Put this aside. Put it in the car.
Take our temporary spare. Get it into position. Start the lug nuts by hand. Start to tighten them down a little bit. Make sure it's seated. I'm going to lower the vehicle and really tighten them when it's on the ground.
You don't have to get it fully depressed just enough to get it out of there. You can move your vehicle. You can get off to the side of the road. Before you do that, you can take the wrench, I'm just going to tighten these up in a cross pattern as tight as you can go because you don't have a torque wrench. Follow the recommendations on this temporary spare. Get off the road and get to a place where you can have your tire fixed or replaced.
