    Trim Tool Set

Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!

In this video, we're replacing the driver's side view mirror in this 2010 Volkswagen GTI. The passenger side is the same, if you need any parts for your vehicle, click the link in the description and head over to 1aauto.com. Take this trim piece off and grab a flat blade plastic trim tool. We sell these at 1aauto.com.

I'm just going to get underneath here. Pry up. Then it slides forward. If any of the clips fall out, you can just push them back down. This one's going to be tightened a little bit. Just squish it on your fingers. Push it down. Next we have these two fasteners we have to take out. They're a T30. We're going to use a driver because it's easier to get in there than a socket. Loosen them up all the way, and I'm going to use a little magnet to be able to pull them out. There's another fastener under here. It's a T30 also. I'm going to take that out.

Next we're going to pry this trim out. Pull it back and pull it up. Let's leave that like that for right now. Next I'm going to take a trim tool. Pull out the door panel. There we go. I'm going to pull up on the door panel and pull out. This piece right here, you're going to pull on this little lever, just going to pull it right out. When you pull the two connections out, push down on the tab, and it comes out. There's another one right here. Push down on this connector, and that tab, and we're going to pull this connector up.

There's a tab right here. Push down on the tab and pull it out. Take a little pick in here and you pull up on that. Pulls right out. Then disconnect our connector down here. Pull up the lock tab and then push on the little tab to pull the connector up. Right here, I'm going to pull this up. There you go. Lock underneath that. Sometimes these can be tricky to get up. There you go. Just locks in. Pull the wire up here. Pull this tab up.

We have a triple square right here. It's a M8. You want to make sure that you're supporting the mirror from the outside when you're doing this. Pull the bolt all the way out. Just pull the mirror straight out. You can fish the wire through the hole. There you go. All right. We're going to install the wire through this hole right here. Feed it all the way through.

There's these two little alignment pins, can go in the bottom. Push those in. This trim, it's going to go underneath the weatherstrip. Push that in like that. When you're putting the mirror in, it's good to have this in your hand so that you're ready to start threading it in. I'm going to tighten it down snug. I'm going to install this clip right here. This is going to go under this wire into this clip here. This is going to clip on right here.

We're going to push the connector in. Line it up and push down the lock. If any of these are on here when you go to put your door panel back on, you want to take them off to install them to the door panel side. Like that. Install these. They go in that slot. Just push it over.

If this rubber grommet came off with this tweeter or these little clips came off, you're going to have to take them off and reinstall them. So line these up. Push that on. Connect the door lock connector. Connect the window switch connector. The mirror switch connector and slide it in. Then this theft-deterrent connector, plug that in.

To put this inner door latch cable on, you're going to line this up on the front side and you're going to push down. You're going to push down until it locks in. You want to double check to make sure it works. Let me give it a try, and it works. I'm going to slide the top part of the door panel into the window channel. It's all on. I'm going to line up these clips. Below I'm going to install our T30, and these two go in right near the arm handle. This one goes in there. Take this trim piece, and I want to slide those two right into the grooves. Line it up.
