What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. In this video I'm going to show how to replace the shifter knob on this 2007 Mini Cooper S. Our shifter knob is starting to peel. It's getting kind of annoying, and you scrape your hands on it while you're shifting. So we're going to put this sweet 1A Auto blue carbon fiber shifter knob on instead. It's going to be a lot more sporty and easy and won't cut my hands up.

So I want to pull the boot up first, so I'm just going to use the trim tool. Come around here and pull this up. This one came up pretty easy. There're some clips right there. This has been out a couple times, so it came out easy. And then you're just going to grab the shifter knob with all your might and you're going to pull it straight up. This may be pretty difficult. Just like that. That wasn't to bad. Going to flip the shifter knob over and push it through so you can to the backside of here.

Just going to take a straight blade screwdriver--little pocket screwdriver. Take another one. Try not to stab yourself. Try to grab this and twist it. There we go--got it off. So just separating the shifter knob from the boot. We're going to reuse the boot. We're not going to use the shifter knob. So this piece wasn't supposed to come off so I could just use a little bit of glue and glue this back on to the base of this. That's just going to hold the shape of the boot.

Now we're going to take this boot and reinstall the boot. Lock that in place. I'm going to take our shifter knob and we're going to take this little hex wrench and find that. We'll tighten that up, like that. Make sure that's nice and snug and then we can tighten this top down just like that.

I have these different shift pattern buttons so you're going to want to match up to the one that you have on the car or you could be really funny and put one that doesn't match the car. And then whenever someone borrows your car, they'll have a fun time figuring it out. But this one is the one we had, reverse all the way to the left and up and it's a six speed, six gears all the way down to the right. So we're going to install that. I'm going to take a little alcohol on a rag, wipe the top off, just clean it. I already took the backer off. Just get it lined up and stick it on. And that looks pretty sick. Really nice.
