How to Replace Reverse Lights 2007-13 Nissan Rogue

How to install, repair, fix, change or replace a broken, damaged, burned out, cracked, faded, cloudy or chipped reverse or backup light on 2009 Nissan Rogue.

step 1 :Removing the Reverse Lights
- Open the hatch
- Remove the two 10mm nuts on the bottom of the reverse light housing
- Pry open the trim door with a flat blade screwdriver
- Remove the third 10mm nut from the light
- Pry out the light from the adhesive
- Disconnect the wiring harness

step 2 :Installing the Reverse Light
- Connect the wiring harness
- Press the reverse light into the hatch
- Tighten the three 10mm nuts
- Replace the trim door

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: trim removal tool, flat blade screwdriver, 10mm socket, ratchet, socket extension
Open your hatch, and locate the two 10 millimeter screws on the bottom of your reverse light housings. We'll remove these with the 10 millimeter socket and ratchet. Using the small, flat blade screwdriver, remove the access panel in your hatch. You can then remove the third 10 millimeter nut from the reverse light and reflector assembly. There's a foam, rubber, kind of water shielding, behind the headlight, so yours may be pretty difficult to remove.
We're going to take some plastic trim tools so we don't scratch our paint and work our way around the headlight. And you can hear it there, that adhesive. It's not really an adhesive, but it is sticky, so it's going to get stuck on there, because these reverse lights are likely original to the vehicle. That's a good sign, if you hear that, kinda crackling noise. That's that adhesive popping up. And just go slow, if you try to pry up too much at once you could risk creating a pressure point and cracking the plastic. But you can feel as you go along, this does get a lot easier.
Using the small, flat blade screwdriver, disconnect and separate the connector, and remove your reverse light housing.
Plug in the socket on your new reverse light, line up your studs, and install the reverse light, as well as your three 10 millimeter nuts. Reinstall the plastic trim on your hatch panel. Close your hatch, and you're good to go.
