How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a damaged, worn out, faulty or shorted rear power window switch on 11 Toyota Prius.
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
To take our window switch out, we pop this silver chrome piece off first. So I'll take our plastic trim tool, and you can get these from 1AAuto.com. Kind of work it underneath here, carefully. And then, were going to pop it straight up. It will un-clip. Put that aside. Now, the switch bezel can come up, so again I'll use the prying tool and start to pry it up. Try over here. Pop up. Prying it straight up and out. And then, you're going to unplug it pushing in the lock and pull the connector out.
To remove the switch from the bezel, flip it over, and there's a tab on this side and a tab on this side. You're going to have to push them in, so either with your fingernail or you can use a plastic prying tool. Just push it in gently and it will un-clip, and then you kind of try to pry up a little bit to get underneath that lip that locks it in place. We might have to do both at nearly the same time.
Let's start with this one here. Popped up. Let’s see. Just try my finger first, and this one too you can also pry in this way. Pull this up. It's not the easiest thing. So I got that side up, now I'll get this one unlocked, and hold it so the other side doesn't pop back in. Kind of pushing in. Try the thinner one here. There it is. And it'll just slide out.
Replace the switch. So, the switch is keyed, so it will only fit in the trim one way. Slides down into place. Snap right in and lock, and it's reinstalled into the trim.
Reinstall the window switch, plug it back in, and it will click when it locks. And then, we're just going to push it straight down into the openings. It'll snap into place. Reinstall the silver door trim. All the tabs all basically go straight down. Snap into place, and that's reinstalled.
