In this video, we're going to be working with our 2006 Ford Explorer. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your rear power window switch. We're working with the driver's side, but this process will be the same on the passenger side, as well as the front passenger door panel.

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: trim removal kit

You can also do this with a small flat blade screwdriver, or, if you want to keep your interior in nice shape, you can use one of the trim tools from our interior trim tool removal set, available at 1AAuto.com.

Put that trim tool in the bottom edge of the master switch trim. We'll start at the back and pry out the clips. Using the same interior trim tool, pop up on the tabs for the window switch, and disconnect the electrical connector on the bottom.

I like to take a set of the trim tools and wedge them in. Just find the right size that it releases both of those tabs. Then you can flip it over, release the tabs on the opposite side while pushing out on the switch. These can be a little tricky, but just stay at it because if you pry these out too far, you can break the panel. Once the tabs are released, you can simply push the switch right out of the retainer.

Now, the new switch will only go in one way. You can see that these tabs are offset here. Line them up, and gently push it in until it clicks. Then you're ready to reinstall the panel into your car.

Reconnect your window switch. Install the panel back into the door until it snaps into place. The same thing with the one up top on the handle. Make sure you hook the front end in first before snapping the back in.
