Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a rear outside door handle on this Chevy Colorado. It's a pretty easy procedure. We show you the driver side. The passenger side is the same. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension or actually a 10mm wrench would work and you'll also need a flat blade screwdriver.

First, there's two Phillips screws down there, remove those, and you'll also remove a Phillips screw right in there. We'll fast-forward here as I remove those three screws. Okay, once you pull this up there's a little button right here, just disconnect that harness. Start down here and pull firmly around and the panel comes off, up, and out.

You'll want to slowly and carefully peel the top corner of the water shield back so you can access the upper inside of your door. As you come in, there are two bolts that hold it in. One you can access right through there and the other one is right there, as well as there's a red clip on the rod that you can use a screwdriver. Work a screwdriver in there, pry the clip up and off and then use it to knock the rod out of the door handle. I'm going to fast forward here as I use a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension to reach in and get those two bolts out that hold the door handle on. On the handle, you want to lift up on the inside and bring it right out.

I can actually, now, put the handle in place and clip it in place. Get these bolts. I'm going to load them into my socket, put them right in and get them going. Do the same thing over here. Load the bolt into the socket. Put it right in. Get the rod going in and put the clip up slide the rod all the way in and then just use my finger and clip the clip on.

Now, with the door panel, make sure it's up on the windowsill here against the window. Make sure our wire's through. Kind of peek back in, you see the clips go in. Okay, right around. We can plug our switch back in. Clip the bezel right back down and on. Put this one right back in place. We'll fast-forward here again as we tighten up those screws; like to tighten them up nice and firm. You don't want to make them too tight, you could break some of the plastic, but you want them nice and firm so that your door feels nice and solid when you open and close it.
