How to Replace Rear Door Speakers 2014-17 Subaru Crosstrek

To remove the rear door panel, this will be the same for both side. There's a little door here. We're going to use a flat bladed screwdriver to open it up and access the Phillips head screwdriver that's behind it. Do it without chewing the plastic up. Open that up. Get that screw behind it. Use the same for the one behind the door handle.

To remove this one here, the Phillips head screwdriver is the same for this one. Door handle has some plastic clips around the outside edge. Then it's hooked around the top of the door panel. Just use a plastic prying tool. You can get this from 1AAuto.com. We're going to go down, and feed it in. You want to get it down here and start down here. You're going to pry it out. These can take some force. You're going to do that all the way around. You should be able to come straight up off the door panel. Unplug the window switch. Push in the lock tab. Pull it out. Sometimes it'll be hard to push it. Use that plastic trim tool to push the lock in. Pull the connector out. Clip the cable off for the door lock. Just pry it straight up. It'll come right out. We'll do the same for the door release handle. Pry it straight up. A little ball will come out of there. You can remove the door panel and put it aside.

To remove the door speaker, there's three Phillips head screws around the outside of it. Take the Phillips head screwdriver and take them out. With all the screws removed, pull the speaker out of the door. I'll unplug it, push in the lock, and pull the connector out.

I'm going to reinstall it. Plug it back in and it'll click when it locks into place. Put it back in the door and get it lined up. I'm going to have to hold it there and get the top one started. There is an arrow pointing up, so that knows that the speaker goes in this direction. I'll tighten it back up and reinstall the other screws the same way. The speaker is replaced.

This trim clip stayed stuck in the door when I removed the plastic door panel. Just going to use a trim clip tool, pop it out, and we'll reuse it. It was missing from over here. You can just pop it back in.

To reinstall the door panel, you're going to plug in the window switch. That's the right way. It'll click when it's in place. Now this is the door lock. The other one is the door lock, so it's going to go on top. Kind of hard to see. You might have to move the door lock and see where that little ball goes in there, just like that. We'll put it over and capture it, and do the same with the door handle. The ball's going to slide in there and go over to capture it. It opens the door and locks the lock. We're going to start at the top and hang this on the door handle just like that. I’m going down along the edges. Start popping the clips back in. That's all it takes. I'm going to reinstall the screw down here. There's this little window. Close this little door thing. All right. Reinstall this screw. Push that in.
