Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to place the rear door door check on this 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The tools that you're going to need for this are a Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, 10mm socket and ratchet, and a T30 Torx bit.
To start off, you want to use your flat blade screwdriver and pry up these two little trapdoors here. Now, you can see there's one Phillips screw in there and there's one in there. If you come down here, there's two more. We'll just fast-forward as Don removes those four Phillips screws. You just want to pry out on the panel to release the clips. We'll do this on the other side. Then your door panel will just lift up and off.
Inside of the door panel, you can see this little clip here. It's your door handle rod. You just want to pry this off with your flat blade screwdriver. Then you want to just push the tab on this harness, disconnect it, and your door panel is free. Now you want to carefully remove your water shield here using a razor blade. Just carefully cut up the adhesive so you can separate it from the door.
Down in here is your door check. You can see in there, there are two 10mm nuts, you just want to go ahead and remove those. On this side here, you'll see there are two T30 Torx screws, you want to just go ahead and remove both of these. Once those bolts are removed, you can just pull your door check through here, and pull that little bezel off.
To reinstall, feed your new door check down into the door. Then you just want to push that through, line up the studs, and put your bezel back onto it. Again, just push those studs through, and you want to just replace those T30 bolts and those two 10mm nuts. Now run your harness, door lock knob, and door handle cable back through your water shield here, and just push it back onto that adhesive.
Now, to reinstall your door panel, you just want to push that harness back into place. Then take your door handle rod, and put the clip back onto it. Then you just want to line your door panel up over the lock, and hit the clips in around the edges. Then we're going to fast-forward as Don replaces those four Phillips screws and closes the two trapdoors.
