Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the coolant bottle on this 2003 Nissan Frontier. It is the same process on the Frontiers from 1999 to 2004 as well as the Nissan Xterras from 2000 to 2004. The only items that you'll need for this is a new coolant bottle from 1A Auto, 10mm socket and ratchet, and a pair of pliers.
Your coolant bottle is located right here. You'll see it's secured by two 10mm bolts: one there and one right there, as well as this clip right here on the hose. What you want to do is use a pair of pliers to just push those tabs in right there, which we'll show you right now. Once you push those tabs together you want to pull that clip back, and then this will allow you to pull that hose free. Then you just want to pull out the clips that clip it to the radiator. We'll fast-forward as he removes those two 10mm bolts. Once the bolts are removed that bottle will come right up and out.
As you can see, the old overflow bottle on the right, the new one from 1A Auto on the left. It has all the same mounting points and the hose is the same length. Everything will fit exactly the same. To install your new bottle, you want to line that tab up with this hole down here. We'll just fast-forward as he replaces those two 10mm bolts. Now you want to take that hose and run it back through those clips on the radiator. Plug the hose in, and, using pliers, push the tabs together on the clip and slide it forward. The last step is just to refill the coolant bottle to the proper level.
