Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the rear wiper motor on this 2002 Suzuki XL7. The items you'll need for this is a putty knife, a razor blade, a 10 millimeter socket and ratchet and a flat blade screwdriver.
Start off using your putty knife to pry out a clip on this panel. Once you get one of them pried out, you can reach back behind there and just pull out on the panel. Once you've pulled all the clips out, the panel is free. Now, using a razor blade, cut your water shield back. You don't want to actually cut the water shield. You don't want to damage it. You just want to cut along where it's sealed to the door. You only need to do enough so you can access the motor.
Then, using a flat blade screwdriver, push the tab on the harness and disconnect it. Now, to remove the wiper arm, flip back this cover. There's a 10 millimeter bolt right there. Using a socket and ratchet, just break it free and then you can remove it the rest of the way by hand. Once it's removed, lift the wiper arm straight up. Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry it out. Just maneuver it back and forth until it pulls off that stud. Now, with the wiper arm removed, you just want to remove these three 10 millimeter bolts right here. Now, pull the motor free.
Here's a new wiper motor. Push it back into place. Then replace those three 10 millimeter bolts. We'll fast forward as Don does this. Reconnect the harness and then put your water shield back into place.
Now, line up these clips with these holes on the door. Once you have them lined up, just hit them into place. Now, you want to turn your rear wiper motor on and then off again so you know that it's on the off position. Then take your wiper arm, push it onto that stud and replace that 10 millimeter nut. We'll fast forward as he replaces it by hand. Then using a socket and ratchet, just tighten it up and flip that cover back down and you're all set.
