In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the driver side master power window switch on this 1997 Cadillac Deville, same for 1997 to 1999 Deville. The only tool you'll need is a flat blade screwdriver.
We're removing a master power window switch. Put a screwdriver under the middle of the front, and there's a tab in there that you press. We'll lift up, and pull forward. Now, you want to disconnect these two harnesses. Put the screwdriver in there, pry a little bit, and pull. Pry the little locking tab. Press on this side, up and out. Do the same thing for this one. It's from this angle. Pry in under, push it up, and then out. Carefully, take your screwdriver and unlock these tabs, here. Pry them out and I pushed up on the switch. Do tame thing on the other side, here. I'm trying to make sure the switch stays. It keeps coming out this way. The switch comes right off.
This is our original switch, and a new switch from 1A Auto. Sometimes the mechanisms inside can break. More often, water gets down on them and shorts them out. Take the switch from 1A Auto. It's going to snap right in place. Reconnect your harnesses, in there correctly. Reconnect this one. It works well. Put the wires back in, push it down, and back, and snap it in place.
