Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we are going to show you how to replace the main power window switch. This is a 1998 Toyota Camry and the items that you are going to need is a new side window switch from 1AAuto.com, a flat-blade screwdriver, and a Phillips screwdriver.
The steps to remove the master window switch and the passenger window switch are very similar. They are nearly the same, but the switch itself will look just a little bit different. Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry up on the back to release it from the door panel. Lift up.
Pull to the back to release this hook from underneath the panel. Press down on the tab to release the connector. This one is a little stuck. Use a small screwdriver to help release it. Remove the three Phillips-head screws with a number two Phillips screwdriver. Remove the switch from the panel.
Here we have our old master window switch from our vehicle and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, the switches are the same size and shape. The graphics are a little bit different, but it's still going to work just the same. We had the two position automatic down feature on the driver's window switch. All the other switches work nice and smooth. These are all full of dirt and grime from being in the vehicle for almost 200,000 miles now. Some nice, smooth switches here. We're going to have good contact.
Make sure your windows go up and down every time you want them to. Also, the door lock feature is being located here, and the safety to disable the passenger and rear windows. We have the same connector on the bottom. We have the same two pins at the bottom, one pin at the top. You can see it fits into our trim nicely. It'll go right in, direct fit just like our original equipment.
If your window switch is broken, sticky, or not doing everything it should, this new part from 1AAuto is going to fix you up right. We have our new switch from 1AAuto.
We'll reinstall the trim for our vehicle with the three Phillips head screws. There is no need to put these in real tight. Just get them in there snug. You don't want to break the plastic.
Reinstall the connector into your switch. Slide the front hook under the door panel, and snap the rear into place. Check for proper operation of your switch.
Our door won't stay locked because the driver's door is open and the key is in the vehicle. Lock and unlock work fine. The window goes up. Now, sometimes you have to program the automatic down feature when you get to the bottom. Push the switch all the way in and count 10 seconds. Roll the window all the way up and then try the auto down feature.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
