Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.

In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and replace the master power window switch on this 2002 Mercury Sable, same as any 2000 to 2005, as well as very similar for 2000 and 2007 Ford Taurus. The tools you'll need to do this job are pretty basic: 8mm wrench to disconnect your battery; a Phillips screwdriver, both a shorter one and a regular one; a door panel clip tool or a putty knife; and a small flat blade screwdriver.

Use an 8mm wrench, disconnect my negative battery cable. This helps protect your battery from running down while your doors are open.

To remove your door panel you're going to start by removing a series of screws. In the front, there's one here, and there are two down below, two right behind the door pull there, and then there's also two on the back. I have to use the shorter screwdriver for this one in the front. I'll hit fast forward as I remove the rest of them and they are all Phillips screws. Now, you want to use a door panel clip tool. If you don't have one of these, a household putty knife will do the same thing. Put it in behind and you slide it down until you come to one of the clips and then pry it out. There's going to be a clip up higher, as well. Mine's coming off pretty easy, because it feels like it's probably been off before. The door panel clip tool you use the same way. Get it in behind until you come to one of the clips, and then pull it off.

Once you have it loose, then pull it straight out. Pull it up, and off of your door lock and then off of your door handle here. Now just reach in behind. Each one of these has a little tab you press and disconnect. Down under here the tab is on the back side, so I'm actually going to pull with my finger like that. I'm pulling down and those are all unplugged; your door panel comes off.

Put your panel on a bench; flip it upside down. Here's your switch right here. It's basically just held in with four clips. These two on this side are easy; the ones on the other side are not so easy. What I'm doing here is I'm pinching it this way so that I'm pulling up and out. Then I'm using a small screwdriver, reaching in behind, and releasing the first clip. Still pulling up, then reaching in behind, and releasing this front clip, and then trying to pull up on the whole switch at once. Release that clip, and then release here, and then pull the whole switch right out.

Here's a new switch from 1A Auto. You see it's all the same, everything's going to plug in the same, and it just goes right down into the door panel and it clicks in place.

To reinstall the door panel, you've got pins in certain places: two up top, and there's a couple down here. I'm missing a couple because this has been apart before, but you also have these two larger line-up pins. You want to put your door up, put your panel in place, and reconnect all your harnesses. This green one goes there. The power mirror goes up here. Then these two go into the power window switch. Now, you put your door handle through and then slide the panel back. Lift it up, get your dock lock pushed through and peek in behind and line up those large line up tabs, both the front and the back, and then make sure that your pins are going in to the holes. Put your screws back in. Start at the one at the front here. I'm going to speed it up here, as I put the rest of those screws in. When you tighten them you want to tighten them nice and firm, but you don't want to over tighten them.

Once you've done this reconnect your battery and you're all set
