Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a power mirror switch on this 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. The items you'll need for this is a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a T25 Torx driver, and a putty knife.
Your door panel is held on with four screws. There's a Phillips screw here, and a Phillips screw up here, and down here under the pull handle, there's two T25 Torx screws. We'll just fast forward as Mike removes those. Now pry out behind this panel with a flat blade screwdriver, and then slide the panel forward and over the door handle. And then pry out on either side of your door lock switch while pulling up on it. That will pull free. Now there's an indent right here that you want to slide your putty knife into and then just pry out on the clip. Then reach back behind the door panel, and feel for the clips, and just pull out sharply to release the clips. Once you've released them all the way around just lift the door panel up and then pull it back. Now push the tab on this harness and pull it free. Do the same thing for this harness. Now your door panel's free.
On the back of your door panel, you want to remove the three Phillips screws that hold on this plate. Now on the front of the door panel, remove this Phillips screw. We'll just fast forward as Mike does this. That inside of your pull handle will pull down and out. Then you just want to push in this clip with a flat blade screwdriver and push up on the panel. Then do the same here. This one can be a little bit more difficult so just stick the screwdriver in there, push on it, and then pull the screwdriver out. Then do this tab on the other side of the switch. Just keeping pushing it out and your switch panel will pull free.
On the back of your mirror switch, just pry out on these tabs while pushing on the other side and then just pull it up on that side. Then pry out on the other side and your switch will pop free.
Take your new power mirror switch and just push it into place. Push the outside of the switch panel in first then the front and the inside. Then push down the back of the panel last. Now replace the inside of your pull handle and that Phillips screw. Replace this plate and the three Phillips screws that hold it into place.
To reconnect your door panel, just start off by reconnecting these two harnesses. Just put this switch through here and then line up these slots with these four tabs. Just lift the door panel up and push the slots onto the tabs. Then just make sure the clips are lined up and hit them into place around the sides of the door panel. Now push your door lock switch back into this panel. Slide the panel over your interior door handle and slide it back into place. Then just replace those four screws. You're all set.
