How to replace burnt or shorted light bulbs on Chevy Avalanche.
To change this turn signal bulb or this marker bulb, reach in, push this lock tab in here, pull it out, and slide the headlight out from the radiator support with these little tabs here. To change the turn signal bulb, push here and turn counterclockwise.
This bulb was a 3157 Amber. To remove this bulb, grab it close to the base, pull it straight out. Reinstall it, push it straight in. This bulb is okay, so I'm going to put it back in. Turn it clockwise to lock it.
To change the marker light bulb, turn it counterclockwise. It will pull out. It's a 194 bulb. To remove this bulb from the socket, just pull it straight out. Reinstall it the same way, or reinstall it in reverse. Line up the tabs with the openings, push it in, turn it clockwise, and then that will lock.
To change the low beam bulb and the high beam bulb, this signal lamp will have to come out. I'm just going to hang it to the side. You want to undo these L pins. If they don't come out by hand, you can take a flat bladed screwdriver and just pry them out. Pull it straight up to remove it. Place those aside.
There's one over here. Pry it with my flat bladed screwdriver, pull it straight up, and place it aside. The headlamp housing will pull out. It's going to be loose in there, so it's easier, you can actually undo the connectors by pushing this open. You might need two hands. You've got push it open, and then push the connector down just like that. Then to get the other one out, do the same thing. Push that off the tab and then push the connector down. Now take the headlamp housing out.
This is our low beam bulb, this our high beam bulb. Our low beam is a 9006. Turn it counterclockwise to unlock it, pull it out of the housing. You shouldn't touch these bulbs with bare fingers because the oils on your fingers will get hot and ruin the bulb. This one's okay, so I'm going to reinstall it. Line up the tabs. There's actually an arrow in the direction you need to turn it. Push down and turn to lock it in. To change the high beam bulb, this is a 9006, turn it counterclockwise to unlock it, pull it out of the housing.
Again, don't touch this bulb because it will get really hot and you can ruin the life of the bulb. Line up the tabs to install it. Turn it in the direction of the arrow, which is clockwise, to lock it. The bulbs are replaced.
Take the headlamp assembly, feed it back into the body, connect the two lamps, place it back where the pins go, reinstall our pins. If you need to, you can spray a little bit of a light oil to help them slide in. The headlamp housing is now installed back in the body. If you need to adjust the aim of your headlamps, you can turn this screw in or out to adjust them up or down. Reinstall your turn signal lamp. Slide this into the radiator support, slide this locking clip into this area, and your bulbs are replaced.
