In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the parking break handle. One time these gets broken, you'll need a new one from 1AAuto.com and a Phillips screwdriver.
Your parking break or release lever is located at the bottom left of the dash on the driver's side. Just below and to the left of the steering column. The release rod and retainer will have to be removed. Put the lever in the close position. Push down on the top of the retainer to release it. Then push the rod off to the side to release it from the lever. Then remove these three Phillips head screws.
Here we have our old part from the vehicle. Our new part from 1AAuto. You can see it's the exact same part, exact same cover, same size mounting holes, it has the same catch for the rod that releases the actual parking break.
This new part from 1A Auto is going to fix you upright.
To reinstall with the assembly closed, slide it up, and line up the retaining holes. Reinstall the three Phillips head screws. Close the lever, slide the release rod back into the retainer before pushing up on the retainer to secure the rod in place.
