Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 1998 Dodge Caravan. This vehicle has the manual mirrors. We do show you how to get to the harness as well if you have power mirrors. The only tools you'll need for this vehicle is a T30 Torx driver (the style that has a ratchet and an extension would help), and you'll also need a Phillips screwdriver.
With your door opened, you're going to see a Phillips screw right here. Remove that. With that screw out you push out on this molding. Pull it at the same time and it comes off. Okay, underneath here you see two T30 Torx screws: one there and then one there. Remove those screws, and as you pull them out, grab them with your fingernail and hold against your driver.
Then there's also a T30 Torx screw right in there. Then we'll speed up the film here as we just use our T30 Torx driver, and loosen and remove that bolt. Okay, when your mirror comes right up off, and this can come out. Obviously this vehicle has a manual mirror. If you have a power mirror, you may be able to unplug it from here. If not, if you have to pull this panel out, it's pretty easy. Just grab this panel at the top and pull it down and out. It does have clips that hold it in. Pull it up and out, and then you can reach the backside. If you need to reach that to disconnect the power mirror, we're finished.
New mirror from 1A Auto. See, it's going to make a really nice replacement, and then what I do is put it on here. Make sure the front goes in, and then just kind of start these two lower bolts. Get those started, take your upper bolt, feed it into place. The mirror gets the wing end. Start this one.
Now we just speed it up here as I'm just tightening up and working that wrench. Okay, I tighten it up, and then I just back it off a couple of turns. Now, tighten up these two. Then I tighten this one. Okay, now this panel you kind of just barely hook in the back a little bit here, and make sure the tabs are going in, push it right in. Then this screw goes in and you're all set.
