Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the mass airflow sensor on this 2004 Volkswagen Jetta with a 1.8L engine. It's the same part and process on these Jettas from 2001 to 2005. The items you'll need include a new mass airflow sensor from 1AAuto.com and a Phillips screwdriver.

Your mass airflow sensor is located right here. Just push on the tab on the harness and pull the harness free. Then loosen up this hose clamp. Now, you want to loosen up this Phillips screw and this Phillips screw. We'll just fast-forward as Don does that. Then, lift that end of the air intake box up. Push it back and lift it up the rest of the way, and just pull your mass airflow sensor out. Now push the tab on this hose and pull it free. Using a Phillip's screwdriver, just remove these two Phillip's screws. Then the mass airflow sensor pulls right off.

On the left is the old mass airflow sensor; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Push your new mass airflow sensor into place and line up those holes. Then replace those two Phillips screws. Reconnect this hose, then push your mass airflow sensor back in. Now push the top of your air intake box down, and then push it forward. Now tighten up this hose clamp. Now reconnect your harness. Then tighten up these two Phillips screws. You're all set.
