Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the mass air flow sensor on this 2003 GMC Envoy XL with the 5.3 liter V8 engine. The items you'll need for this are a new mass air flow sensor from 1AAuto.com and a flat blade screwdriver.
Your mass air flow sensor's right here and you're going to have to loosen up these hose clamps on either side. Disconnect the harness. There's a little black locking clip. Pry that out a little bit, and then, pry up the black tab, and keep pulling the locking clip out. Then, you should push down on that black tab and it should come free. Ours is a little difficult, so I actually put the screwdriver in the other end and just pry up on the tab and disconnect it. We'll just fast forward as Mike loosens those two hose clamps with a flat blade screwdriver. Now, push the hose and air sensor back and pull that ring off. Then pull it free from the other end of the intake hose.
On the left, is the old mass air flow sensor. On the right, is the new one from 1A Auto. You can they're identical and they'll fit exactly the same. Take this ring and push it back onto your mass air flow sensor, then push it back into the air intake box. Reconnect the air intake hose and then just tighten up those two hose clamps. Reconnect the harness and replace that clip. Then you're all set.
