How to Replace Map Light Bulbs 2005-09 Chevy Equinox

In this video we're going to be working with our 2008 Chevy Equinox. We're going to show you how to remove your map light cover and assembly to change the bulbs out. Your map light is the lights in the overhead console here in the front of the passenger compartment. If you like this video, please click subscribe. Using your interior trim removal tool from 1AAuto.com, slide up under the front edge of the map light assembly, pop it down, allow it to hang slightly and we'll grab, right in this little slot, the microphone, or you can push it down from the back. Once the microphone is dislodged, you can put it on an angle and it will fit through the housing here. You just got to find the right one. Disconnect the electrical connector.

Bring your map light housing out of the way. For either map light bulb, simply pull it out.

Support the bulb socket from the backside so you don't push it through, reinstalling your bulb. Line up the tabs and press your bulb into place.

Reinstall the connector for your sunroof motor switch. Place the microphone back through the housing in the same way you removed it. Line it back up and snap it back into the housing. Now, we'll wind up the rear tabs into the bracket in the ceiling, snap the bottom and the sides back into place.

Another nice thing you can do with the interior trim removal tools is get in there and make sure the headliner is pushed and tucked underneath there, nice and easy. Check for proper operation of your lights and switches and you're good to go.
