In this video we're going to show you how to replace the rear tailgate lift struts. You might need these if your tailgate hits you in the head every once in a while, just hard to lift up, things like that. It's actually a really easy process. There are two bolts up top on the tailgate. Use a 6-mm star socket. If you don't have one of those, either a 7-mm metric or I believe it's a 1/4 inch socket. Just press on there real hard and get those bolts out.
After that let me speed it up. Then really after that, use a screw driver and there's a little clip, just pull that clip and then the strut basically falls right off. Then if you put a new one on, you make sure that clips on there. You just pop it on and then you reach up and you put your two bolts back in. Excuse me. I'll get the camera angle better here in a second. You put your two bolts back in and that's it. Actually, one thing to remember, you should have somebody either holding the tailgate, or your piece of wood that you usually use to hold it up when you're getting your groceries and stuff like that out. That's about it. Thank you very much.
