Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the rear hatch lift supports on this 2005 Ford Excursion. It's the same parts and similar process on these Excursions from 2000 to 2005. We'll show you on the passenger's side, but the driver's side has the same procedure. The items you'll need includes new rear hatch lift supports from 1AAuto.com and a flat blade screwdriver.
You want something or someone to safely secure the tailgate while you're doing this. Holding the support into place is these two clips. You just pry them out and pull the piston from those studs, so make sure something or someone is safely securing that tailgate. Then pry out the clip and just pull out on the piston. Do the same thing up here. On the bottom is the old lift support; above it is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they're going to fit exactly the same. Take your new support and just push it on to the two studs. You're all set.
