- Open the key and pry on the inside with a flat blade screwdriver to separate the top
- Pry out the buttons with a flat blade screwdriver

step 2 :Installing the Remote Buttons
- Push the buttons into place
- Slide the top of the key back into place

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the buttons on your keyless remote for the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. The only items you'll need for this are new keyless remote buttons from 1AAuto.com and a flat blade screwdriver.
Open up your key and then pry on the inside here to separate the top. Now, just pry out on the top of the buttons and pull those free. On the left is the old buttons; on the right are the new ones from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll fit exactly the same. Take your new buttons and push them into place, and then just slide the top of your key back down into place and you're all set.
