How To Replace Interior Front Door Handle 2000-05 Buick Lesabre

If the interior door handle is busted or broken, this video will show you how to remove and install the door panel and handle to replace it yourself

step 1 :Removing the Door Panel
- Pry off the speaker piece at the front top corner of the door panel with a flat blade screwdriver
- Disconnect the speaker wiring lead
- Remove the door handle panel with a flat blade screwdriver
- Remove the door handle harness with a flat blade screwdriver
- Remove the reflector with a flat blade screwdriver
- Remove the Phillips screw at the bottom of the door panel
- Remove the Phillips screw at the door handle
- Pry out the door panel with a door panel clip tool or putty knife
- Lift the door panel up and off

step 2 :Removing the Door Handle
- Disconnect the master switch by unclipping the tabs by hand
- Remove the 10mm bolt from inside the door handle
- Remove the door handle by sliding it forward
- Disconnect the lock rods from the door handle

step 3 :Installing the New Door Handle
- Connect the lock rods to the door handle
- Insert and tighten the 10mm bolt onto the inside door handle
- Reconnect the master switch

step 4 :Reinstalling the Door Panel
- Latch the metal lip into the groove near the weatherstrip
- Re-clip the door panel
- Insert the Phillips screw into the door handle
- Insert the Phillip screw at the bottom of the door panel
- Connect the speaker wiring lead
- Push the speaker at the front top corner of the door panel until it clips
- Re-clip the reflector until it snaps in
- Reconnect the door handle harness
- Replace the door handle panel

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the inside door handle on this 2003 Buick LeSabre. It's pretty much the same as any from 2000 to 2005. The tools you'll need are a Phillips and flat blade screwdriver, and a 10mm socket with ratchet or a wrench.
Start with a flat blade screwdriver and this panel actually pulls carefully, pry a little bit, up and out and then there's a little wire for your speaker, pry on the side where you can see the tab. Take the speaker lead out. Right here, pry the front very lightly, and pull that out like that, and then again there's a little tab right here, pry that out, pull it out, and try not to drop that.
Then back here, on your reflector, just pull in there, pry it out, and it comes out. Now, inside the door, there's two screws, one there and one right there. I'll just fast-forward through removing those screws. They are Phillips screws. I'm going to use a putty knife, door panel clip tool, whatever you might have, grab hold and use your foot a little bit, and give the door panel a good yank there and it comes up and off.
Here's a master switch, you pull out on a couple of tabs, and so you pull out on these tabs and then that rotates down. The switch comes out and there's your door panel out. Your inside door handle, pretty easy, 10mm bolt right here. Once you have that off then the handle slides forward, a little bit of the weather strip is in the way here, it comes out. These rods just lift up and out and then this one. For this one, you're going to have to pull the handle down and angle it off. Basically, you have to pull it down and off that rod, snap it back in there. Obviously, my handle is in fine shape, so I'll put it on this one first. This one goes to the bottom, just put it right on. I've got that one on. This one comes in here, push it down on. I have the handle back in door, slide it back, make sure you clip these into the little clip here, and replace our bolt. I'll fast-forward a little bit as I tighten that bolt up.
You want it tight, but not too tight. Okay, just an explanation of what I'm going to do here: the door panel has a metal lip in it, I guess, kind of like a tongue and groove, it has the tongue side, and then on the door itself on the weather rubber strip is the groove, and you just need to make sure that you get that metal tongue into the groove. The best thing to do is start right where the hole for the door handle, for the door pull is, start it there, and then it goes down in a lot easier. You can see that I look into that hole there and I push the tongue into the groove a little bit. Make sure it's lined up and it pushes right down on.
Now, there are line up tabs or line up pins, just make sure those are lined up, make sure all your pins are lined up with the holes they're going into, and then once you're confident they're lined up, you can just press the door panel on, give it a good hit from the corner then hit the bottom and the front and the rear. Make sure the leads are out, the door lock lead and the mirror. I'm sorry, the speaker lead and now you can start the two screws. I'll fast-forward through that first one. Let's just start with your fingers first, excuse my head. It pushes down in there, you might want to take a screwdriver, push that pin down into the hole, push it right in. Reflector snaps in. Our power lock connects. Pull our door handle out, push it up through, push it back in, and push that in place, and you're all set.
