Your hood strut is actually really easy to replace. The only tool that you'll need is a small flat-tip screwdriver. You start by coming up to the top of the hood strut and you pry off this little clip, and it allows you to pull the hood strut away from this little ball. You're going to want a friend to hold up the hood while you get to the bottom of the hood strut, and this actually works the same exact way. You just pry the little clip off with your flat-tip screwdriver, and you can slide it off the ball.
If you're reusing an old hood strut, you can just pop the clip back into place on both ends. This one is already snapped into place. Then it's as easy as just pushing onto the ball, and it locks right back in place. Same thing with the top. Now you're good.
