How to Replace Hood Release Cable 2000-07

1. step 1 :Removing the Hood Release Cable 0:22

   • Remove the push pin retainers to remove the front engine compartment cover
   • Disconnect the hood release cable from the hood latch lever
   • Tie wire or string to the end of the hood release cable
   • Pull on the hood release cable behind the headlight to remove the first section of cable
   • Loosen the 19 mm nut securing the hood release cable handle to the dash
   • Remove the hood release cable from the dash
   • Remove the rubber grommet from the firewall
   • Pull the hood release cable into the vehicle through the firewall
   • Pull in enough of the wire or string to work with
   • Remove the wire or string from the hood release cable

2. step 2 :Installing the Hood Release Cable 10:26

   • Tie the wire or string inside the vehicle to the end of the new hood release cable
   • Feed the end of the hood release cable through the firewall into the engine compartment
   • Pull the string or wire to feed the hood release cable to the hood latch
   • Seat the rubber grommet into the hole in the firewall, using silicone paste if necessary
   • Remove the wire or string from the hood release cable
   • Attach the cable end to the hood latch lever
   • Reinstall the front engine compartment cover and secure it with the push pin retainers
