Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and replace the blower motor on this 2005 Dodge Durango, pretty much the same for any '04 to '09 Durango, as well as the Chrysler Aspen. The only tool you'll need is a 7mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
Here's our fan, heater fin, and our blower motor is right up underneath here. Let's see, there's one bolt here, one back right in there, and then there's another one right there. Your lead goes in right here in the back, and basically what you want to do is kind of press on the tab on the outside. Press in. It's kind of hard to do with one hand actually. Press it in, pull down, disconnect the lead. With a 7mm socket, I'm just going to go into fast motion here as I remove those bolts. They are 7mm, and that's pretty much the toughest part of this, is just kind of getting up in there and getting that back one. It's a little difficult to get to. Use an extension on the other one, and then once you remove those bolts, it's pretty much ready to slide it down and out. Then you just have to bring it down and out.
See, you look up in there, and you notice there's a triangle shape here. The new motor from 1A has that triangle shape as well. Just put it up in, kind of have to press it against the carpet a little bit, put it up in there, and line it up. What you basically want to do is just get it up in place, hold one hand over the other, and start one screw in as far as you can get it with your hand. Reach up and in, and start another screw in as far as you can get it by hand. You've probably got the gist of it now. I'm just going to speed it up here and put the third screw in by hand first, then use your 7mm socket ratchet and extension, and tighten those bolts up. The most difficult one is the one that's in close to the carpet. You kind of have to stuff the wrench in there, get that bolt up in there and tighten it.
