Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace your AC controls on this 1996 Chevy Tahoe. The items you'll need for this include new AC controls from 1AAuto.com, an 8mm wrench, and a flat blade screwdriver.

The first thing that you're going to want to do is disconnect your negative battery terminal. Using an 8mm wrench, just loosen that up and pull it free. Push the brake, turn on the vehicle, and pull the shifter all the way down. Now pull out on the dash panel. You want to do this all the way around it. Once you have it pulled free, look back behind it. You want to disconnect this series of harnesses. Just push the tabs and pull them free. Then do the same thing on this one on the other side and your dash panel is free.

Now, to remove your AC controls, you just want to pry right behind this tab. It just pulls forward. You want to pry up this tab here, tilt the harness up, then pry out the tab on the other side and pull it out the rest of the way. On this harness, you just want to push down this tab, and push the harness out. On this harness, you want to just pry up on this tab and pull it out.

On the left is the old AC controls; on the right is the new ones from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they're going to fit exactly the same. Take your new AC controls and reconnect those three harnesses. Then line up the two tabs on the controls with the two slots on the vehicle. Then just push the controls straight back into place.

To re-install your dash panel, you want to just put it back over the steering wheel and reconnect those four harnesses. Now push the dash panel back into place. You will need to pull that cup holder ashtray out. Then put the shifter back up and turn the vehicle off. Now push your negative battery cable back into place and tighten up that 8mm bolt. You're all set.
