Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out and next time you need parts for your vehicle think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks. In this video we're going to show you how to service headlights on this Chrysler Pacifica. We're going to show you both if you need to change bulbs as well as if you want to replace the entire assembly because your lights are clouded or faded. The only tool you'll need is an 8mm wrench or a socket and ratchet. If you need to adjust your headlights you'll need a socket ratchet with extension.
Okay what we have here is a before picture. Here's our vehicle left hand headlight before and then here's after. The car has about 130,000 miles on it. The new light just makes it look that much better and that much fresher and that much newer. Okay just open up the hood by pulling on this lever and right under here a little yellow lever that you push towards the left. Pull the hood up. There's a rod right here that comes up. Okay the top of each light there are two 8mm bolts. You can actually use an 8mm wrench or socket and ratchet like this is the best. You could use a flat blade screwdriver, but that would probably be a little more difficult. Remove these bolts. Okay probably the most uncomfortable part about the whole thing, push your bumper cover down and reach underneath and pull out on the light. Then you can let that go and then hold the inside of the light out first and the whole light comes out.
As you pull the light out you'll see a connector right here. You press firmly on this tab with your thumb and disconnect. If you're just looking to change a bulb you take one of these covers off and then way down in there is the bulb. You just reach in, twist counterclockwise and pull it out. Okay and then your bulb comes off by prying out and pulling. Okay, new bulb goes on. Do your best not to touch the bulb surface. If you touch it wipe it with a clean cloth. Okay. Reach back in. Okay there's also a bulb right here. It might be good to have a pair of pliers around. Reach in there again, twist counterclockwise. Okay, again that bulb just pulls straight out. Put it back in turn it clockwise to lock it.
Okay if you're putting on a new headlight you'll want to save this clip. Use a small screwdriver and you've got to press in on the tabs, pull it from the backside. That didn't pull through the way I wanted it to. Okay, the clip pulls through and to get it out of here you just take your small screwdriver, put it right in there, pry them apart and slide that back out. Okay. New light from 1A Auto. Nice, clear, bright. Okay, take our clip. Take our harness connection slide this clip in and then bring this right up and clip it. Put it on like that. Okay, bring it in, reconnect the harness. Make sure you hear it click. Then you want to put the light in, peel back the plastic here some and take it right off. Okay. Put it in and this part of the plastic up here should go up on top of the fender and then kind of let the light go in and then it should clip in place. Just put your two bolts back in the top. Tighten them up.
If you need to adjust your headlight there's an adjuster right here. Okay. Turning it counterclockwise moves the headlights up. Clockwise moves them down and you basically want to line your headlight up so that at 20 feet away from a wall on a flat surface your low beam should be 1 inch below the height of the bulb. So, if your bulb is say 26 inches high your low beam should be shining on a wall 20 feet away at 25 inches. The middle of the concentration of the beam. Your high beam is basically the same but it should be pointing level. So, on a level surface 20 feet away from a wall the concentration of the beam should be the same level as the height of the bulb.
