Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to be working with our 2006 Ford Explorer. We're going to show you how to change out your front lights, being your turn signals, parking lights, headlights.

Here are the items you'll need for these repairs: 8mm socket, ratchet, socket extension, and gloves.
To access the lights more easily, we'll remove the entire headlight assembly from the vehicle. You can do this to change the bulbs or you can follow these same steps to replace the entire headlight housing. We're going to use an 8mm socket ratchet and extension to remove these two 8mm screws at the top and one down here behind the grille, which we'll show you better in a second.
You can see that the bracket for this bolt is notched on one side so we only have to loosen it enough to allow that notch to slide out from under the bolt so we can remove our headlight housing. With the top two bolts out and the bottom bolt loosened up, we can move the headlight out of the grille and access the bulbs at the back. The headlight bulb can be accessed by removing the electrical connector, turning it one click counterclockwise, and removing the assembly from the housing.
The new bulb will go in the same way. Simply line it up in there, click it clockwise, and reconnect the connector. Always be sure to wear gloves because the oils on your fingers can damage the bulbs if it gets on there. I'm going to rotate the assembly here. Your turn signal is located in the bottom inside corner. It's going to work the same way.
We're going to turn the whole thing counterclockwise. If you're careful that you don't twist the wires, you don't have to undo the connector. Remove it from the housing. Work the bulb out of the socket. New bulb, pops right in.
Reinstall the socket. Click it clockwise. They also have side marker in the center of the housing on the outside edge, same thing. Counterclockwise, one click. Remove the bulb from the socket. Install your new bulb. Reinstall the socket into the housing. Click it clockwise. All your bulbs are good. Reinstall the headlight housing. Make sure that you line the notch up on that bottom tab under the bolt. Tighten that one up first. Then reinstall the two 8mm bolts at the top.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
