Created on: 2020-04-03

Watch this video to learn how to install new headlights made to fit your 2005-14 Ford Mustang.

Tools needed

  • Gloves

    Flat Blade Screwdriver

    Rust Penetrant

    Phillips Head Screwdriver

    10mm Wrench

    10mm Socket

    Trim Tool Set

    Safety Glasses

First, we're gonna take off these three bolts right here using a Phillips head screwdriver. Now that that's out of the way, you can see these bolts. We're gonna spray these with some penetrant. We'll let that sit for a minute. While we're waiting, let's disconnect these. There it is. Awesome. Now, let's work at these. Using your 10 millimeter, go ahead and take these off. For this one, you're gonna need to use a wrench on the top. Use a 10-millimeter and then a 10-millimeter here. Now, we'll do the same to the other side of the vehicle.

Next, we're gonna take out the push pins that are holding on this plastic cover. Use this little forkey tool or whatever you've got. Come right under here and pop them up. Come right over the other side, get this one too. There it is. Set that aside. Next, we're gonna remove these 10-millimeter headed bolts. There's one on this side and one on the other. Now that we have those off, you can grab onto this and just lift it. It's gonna break free. Do the same to the other side. At this point, we're gonna grab the corner of the bumper and start pulling it away from the vehicle. Nice. Come on over here. Oh, yeah. All right. Here we go. It's coming off. If you look along the bottom area of your headlamp, you're gonna see the mounting bolts. And on the other side, you'll see some of the threaded area coming through. I'm gonna spray that with some penetrant and let it sit for a second. Remove your 10-millimeter headed bolts. Now, we'll get the one from the top. Now, it's time to get the upper bolt out. I'm just gonna start it in a couple of threads here, and I'm gonna take my pocket screwdriver and remove this. The center lifts up and out and then the piece does. Set that there. Grab that headlight, slide right out of here. Grab onto this. It should wanna pop off. There it is. Awesome.

It's time to install the headlamp assembly. Grab your wiring, push it right on there. Okay. Make sure it's latched in. That feels good. Slide it in and under here. Now we're gonna loosely attach the top. Start in those lower bolts. Awesome. Let's snug them up. Perfect. Let's get this bumper cover back on here. Carefully slide it up. Try to line everything up. Obviously, on the sides is where you wanna be careful because you don't wanna mess up any of your paint. Let me see if I can get this right there. Get this up and over. It should wanna latch in. That'll hold it a little bit for us. We can put our bolt in there. Do the same on the other side. Careful for our paint. Perfect. Awesome. We'll tighten these up in a minute. Okay. So, we'll grab our bolt and put it down through the top. It should wanna come through that hole. Put that on there. Okay. That on there. Awesome. Let's snug these up, and then we'll put these on, and then we'll do the same on the other side of the vehicle. Awesome. Let's go over there.

Now, it's gonna be time to get this back behind the bumper cover. Usually, you can just angle it up behind the fender as well. This area goes behind the bumper cover, just like that. Grab your screws, snug them up. Awesome. Do the same to the other side of the vehicle. Awesome. Do the same to the other side of the vehicle. It's time to bolt these down. Now, let's grab the plastic that goes over the top. This goes right on here. All these little push clips just push right in. Do the same down the line. All right. Let's test them. Nice.

This is going to be a general tutorial on how to aim your brand new TRQ headlamp assemblies. Okay. So, looking at your brand new TRQ headlamp assembly, you're gonna see where your low beam is, and you'll see a little dot right in the center, and that is the access point. Okay. So, what we're gonna do is we're gonna mark that with an erasable marker, just so it's easier to see. Next what we need to do is measure from the level ground up to this point and take note of that measurement. Now, we're just gonna pull the car up to our wall. On our vehicle, we remember that the measurement was 28 inches for our access point. Your vehicle may be different, but that's where I'm gonna put this tape, just above that 28 inches. We'll do the same on the other side. Okay. So, let's just back the vehicle up straight back 25 feet from the wall. And now that we moved our vehicle 25 feet back from the wall, we're gonna start with our measurement here. That's where the headlamp center is. We're gonna go down four inches on the driver's side. On the passenger's side, we have our line here. What we need to do is go down two inches.

To adjust the driver's side, we're gonna cover our passenger's side headlamp. If you look at the backside of your headlamp assembly, you're gonna see something that looks like this. This is the adjustment. Some of these headlight assemblies have one, two, or even more of them, but you should at least have one. This is how we're gonna adjust the headlight beam. Now, we're gonna lower the top part of the beam down to just below this line. When you turn the adjustment to the right, it brings the beam up. And if you turn it to the left, it'll bring the headlight beam down. And this is this way on most vehicle is. Let's continue on to doing the passenger's side. All right. We properly aligned our TRQ headlamp assemblies.

Okay. And on the quality TRQ headlamps for a pickup truck, the procedure is gonna be the same. You're gonna find your center dot, mark it, and then you'll measure from the level ground up to your dot. So, once your headlamps are properly adjusted, it'll be time to adjust your fog lamps. You'll notice on the driver's side, the focal point is all the way at the bottom right now. I would like to bring it up so it meets up with approximately the bottom of the focal point of the headlight. Some fog lamps have an adjuster, others don't. The ones that do have an adjuster, you would just turn the adjustment to the left or to the right to adjust the beam up and down to where it needs to be. Now with your TRQ headlamps and fog lamps properly aligned, you can drive down the road safely.
