Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to service the headlights on this 2009 Pontiac GXP, same for any 2006 to 2009 GXP, and we're going to show you both how to change the entire assembly and the bulbs. Items you'll need are new headlights from 1AAuto.com. We sell very nice replacements in case yours are clouded or cracked or broken, and then 8mm and 10mm sockets and a ratchet with an extension.

Start out, open up your door and pull your hood switch. Then, there's a safety hook underneath, reach in, push up on it, and lift up the hood. Three bolts holds your headlights, two 7mm bolts on top, and then a 10mm bolt down in there. Use a socket, ratchet, and extension to get that 10mm, and I'm going to speed up here as I remove that the rest of the way. Then, I'll use a 7mm socket and ratchet to remove the two on top. Pull your headlight out a little bit and reach down in and grab that 10mm bolt so you don't lose it. Then you'll pull the top brace up and release the headlight forward some, and then pull the inside and the outside out until you release the ball that's at the bottom, and then your headlight comes out.

To disconnect the harnesses, there are little red safety clips that you pull out first. Then you press on the tab and disconnect. That was the main headlight. This is the signal light, same thing, pull the red tab out, press on the connector, and pull it off. Then the side marker light just has a little tab that you press and pull off.

Then we're going to change the bulbs. The bulbs all just turn counterclockwise and come out. The main headlight bulb, turn counterclockwise and it comes out. Put your new one in, clockwise to lock it. Same thing with the signal light, turn counterclockwise and then the bulb will just pull out.

You put your new one in and turn clockwise to lock it. Same thing with the small side marker lens.

Our original headlight's in good shape, so we're just going to put them back in, but, again, at 1A Auto, we do sell good replacements if your headlights are fogged, cloudy, yellow, or broken. You'll want to connect your three connectors, and then there's a little ball socket at the bottom that you need to push into place. We'll get the headlight closed and reconnect the three connectors. On the two, make sure you push in the red locking clips. Put the headlight in place, put the inside in first, and get everything pretty much lined up. Then push the headlight in to lock that socket in place. For the 10mm bolt that's down in there, I put a little piece of paper towel, put it on the head of the bolt, and then insert it into the socket. That way you can hold it upside down and put it down into place. You need to usually push in pretty good on the headlight to line up the hole and clip that the bolt goes into.

Let's see, I tried to start it here, doesn't quite go in, so then I reposition myself a little bit. Again, push in that headlight, start the bolt up. I'll fast-forward here as I tighten up that bolt, and then put in the two 7mm bolts and tighten them up. Once you're all set, get your tools out of there, close your hood, and you should be good to go down the road.

Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
