Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
It's the same part and a similar process on these Envoy XLs from 2003 to 2004. The items you'll need for this are a new fuel pressure regulator from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, pick, and some paper towels.
Start your vehicle and push the tabs on your fuse-box cover and just lift it up and off. Then pull off this panel and set it aside. Then pull your fuel-pump relay up and out, and your engine will die. Then, just turn off your vehicle.
Next, you want to just disconnect this hose. Stuff some paper towels under here. To get the clip off, you want to push down on it and then pull out on the ears. You can do one side first. I kind of do the front side first, and then I do the back side. Again, push down on the top, pull out on the ear, and then pull it up and off. Then, pull that clip off, and then just pull the fuel-pressure regulator out. Most likely, it left behind an O-ring and a screen, so just, using a clean pick, just pry out that O-ring carefully. Then carefully pull out the screen and then the small O-ring that's behind it.
On the left, is the old fuel-pressure regulator. On the right, is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Okay, I'm just going to take a little tiny bit of penetrating oil on my finger and just coat the O-ring a little bit. Now, put the clip on. The narrow side goes around the regulator, so push the regulator in. This, you'll have to clip on. Just make sure it's seated around the ears at the bottom. Reconnect the hose, and then just remove those paper towels.
Push your fuel-pump relay back into place. Then replace this panel and your fuse-box cover. Before you start it up, you'll want to turn the key on a couple times and make sure that the fuel pump runs.
