How to Replace Front Sway Bar Links 03-15 Mini Cooper

1. step 1 :Removing the Wheel 0:32

   • Pry off the center cap with a flat blade screwdriver
   • Loosen the 17mm lug nuts with the vehicle on the ground
   • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack
   • Secure the vehicle on jack stands
   • Remove the lug nuts
   • Pull off the wheel

2. step 2 :Removing the Sway Bar Link 1:39

   • Turn the wheel by hand
   • Hold the upper sway bar link stud with a 5mm Allen bit and ratchet
   • Remove the upper nut from the sway bar link with a 16mm wrench
   • Hold the lower sway bar link stud with a 5mm Allen bit and ratchet
   • Remove the lower nut from the sway bar link link with a 16mm wrench
   • Pull off the sway bar link

3. step 3 :Reinstalling the Sway Bar Link 3:54

   • Push the sway bar link into place
   • Start the 14mm nuts by hand
   • Hold the lower sway bar link stud with a 5mm Allen bit and ratchet
   • Fasten the lower nut onto the sway bar link with a 14mm wrench
   • Torque the lower nut to 41 foot-pounds
   • Hold the upper sway bar link stud with a 5mm Allen bit and ratchet
   • Fasten the upper nut onto the sway bar link with a 14mm wrench
   • Torque the upper nut to 41 foot-pounds

4. step 4 :Reattaching the Wheel 5:33

   • Slide the wheel into place
   • Start the 17mm lug nuts by hand
   • Tighten the lug nuts preliminarily
   • Lower the vehicle to the ground
   • Tighten the lug nuts to 88 foot-pounds in a crossing or star pattern
