How To Replace Front Door Check 2003-14 Nissan Titan

How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, snapped off, or loose door check strap on 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, Nissan, Titan, Armada.

step 1 :Removing the Door Panel
- Pry off the panel inside the door handle with a flat blade screwdriver
- Pry off the door pull panel with a flat blade screwdriver
- Remove the two 10mm bolts inside the door pull
- Remove the 10mm bolt inside the door handle
- Pry off the window switch panel with a flat blade screwdriver
- Disconnect the window switch wiring harnesses
- Pry off the door panel by hand
- Disconnect the courtesy light wiring harness
- Disconnect the door latch cable from the door handle
- Disconnect the door lock cable from the door lock switch
- Carefully peel back the water shield

step 2 :Removing the Door Check
- Pull off the rubber door check cover by hand
- Remove the two 10mm bolts from the door side of the door check
- Remove the 10mm bolt from the frame side of the door check
- Pull the door check out of the door

step 3 :Installing the New Door Check
- Push the new door check through the door
- Push the rubber cover over the door check
- Put the door check into place
- Insert the two 10mm bolts into the door side of the door check
- Insert the 10mm bolt into the frame side of the door check
- Push the rubber cover into place

step 4 :Reinstalling the Door Panel
- Put your water shield back on
- Connect the lock rod to the door switch
- Connect the latch cable to the door handle
- Connect the courtesy light wiring harness
- Pull the window switch harnesses through the door panel cavity
- Put your door panel onto the window sill
- Push the door panel clips in
- Reconnect the window switch wiring harnesses
- Insert the window switch into the door panel using the tab
- Insert the 10mm bolt into the door handle
- Insert the two 10mm bolts into the door pull
- Push in the panel inside the door handle
- Push in the door pull panel inside

In this video we're going to show you how to replace a door check on this 2004 Nissan Titan. We'll show you on the driver's side. The passenger side is the same procedure. The items you'll need for this is a flat blade screwdriver and a 10mm socket and ratchet.
Start off prying off this little panel back here behind the door handle and then this panel along your pull handle. Then you want to remove this 10mm bolt, this 10mm bolt and this 10mm bolt right here. You can use a Phillips screwdriver instead if you prefer. Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry up on the side of your switch pad and lift the front up and then slide the back forward. Then, push the tab on each of these harnesses and pull them free. Now, pull out along the door panel to release the clips and lift it up and out of the windowsill. Then, push the tabs on either side of this harness and pull it free. Then, push this forward, lift it up and out and do the same thing with this one. Now, just peel back your water shield.
Now, just pull out this cover and in here you'll see two 10mm bolts and a 10mm bolt right here. We'll just fast forward as Don removes those. Now your door check will just pull out.
Take your new door check, push it into place and push that cover over it. Then replace those three 10mm bolts. We'll fast forward as Don starts them by hand and then tightens them up with a socket and ratchet. Now, push that cover back into place and replace your water shield.
To replace your door panel, take your lock cable, push it back down into place and slide that back into the bracket. Do the same thing with your door handle cable. Then, reconnect your courtesy light. Then, lift your door panel back up onto the windowsill making sure that your switch pack harnesses are going back up through the door panel. Once you have it in place, make sure that the clips line up and just hit them back in. Reconnect your switch pack. Then, slide this tab on the back down in first then push the front down. Then replace those three 10mm Phillips bolts. Push the small panel behind your door handle back into place and then the small panel in your pull handle in place and you're all set.
