Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video we're going to show you how to service a fog light on this 2003 Ion sedan, same as any '03 to '07 with the fog lights. If you're just looking to change the bulb, we show you how to do that. You really don't need any tools for that. If you do need to replace a damaged or broken fog light, you will need a 10 millimeter socket with a ratchet.

Servicing these fog lights, now, obviously, I have the car up on a lift. You don't need it up on a lift. It just makes it a whole lot easier to film for you. Basically you reach in behind, and if you're just looking to change a bulb, you grab hold of the bulb, turn it counterclockwise, and then it comes out. Then, disconnect the bulb. Just pull these ears on the sides to the side and pull it out. The new bulb plugs back in. You don't want to touch these bulbs. They're halogen. The grease from your fingers could cause them to melt the glass and blow out prematurely.

If you should need to replace the whole assembly, because they get broken, and that happens a lot on these vehicles, you hit a curb or rocks take them out, a 10 millimeter socket with a ratchet is the best tool. Get it on there. Once you get the bolt loose, it comes off. I'm just going to put the socket on there first. I'm just going to speed it up here. As I started to say, once you get the bolt loose, or the nut loose, it pretty easily just threads off by hand after that, although, depending on the condition of your vehicle, you may have to use the ratchet the whole time. Push it forward. My adjustor just got stuck on there a little bit. There's your light out.

Here's our original light and the the new light from 1A Auto. You can see it's nice, clear and bright. Obviously, if you broke one of your lights, it's going to be a great replacement. If you're looking to make the frontend of your vehicle look a little better, it could do that, too. A good rule of thumb here is to look at where the top of your adjustor screw is on the bracket. If your new one is about, in the same place, then that's probably a good preliminary aiming. We'll peel up the cellophane a little bit so we can get it off when it's installed. Then slide it right in. It's got a little bit of a longer adjustor screw on it, so I have to just push a little harder. It's in. Use our original bolts. This one didn't happen to have a bulb in it, so we'll disconnect our original one, and connect it to the new one. Okay, take the plastic off.

There's a nice new headlight and a nice new fog light. That takes a lot of the miles off the front of your car.
