Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service the bulbs as well as replace the entire fog light assembly on this 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. It's the same part and similar process on these Mountaineers from 2002 to 2005.The items you'll need for this are a new fog light from 1AAuto.com, and a 7mm socket and ratchet with an extension.
To access the fog light, you reach up from underneath. To service the bulb, you just twist the socket counter-clockwise, pull the bulb out, push the tab on the harness, and disconnect it. Push your new bulb into place and twist the socket back in clockwise to lock.
To remove the entire assembly you remove these three 7mm bolts. We're going to show you this procedure on the passenger side because this fog light is completely missing except for a couple little pieces of plastic. Remove the same three 7mm bolts. Fast forward as Mike removes those.
On the right, is what used to be a fog light. On the left, is the new fog light from 1A Auto. If you could see what the old fog light used to look like, you would see that ours is very similar and would fit exactly the same. Take your new fog light and feed it up into place. Replace those three 7mm bolts, starting with this lower one that you can get by hand. Then, take a socket. We just use some tape to help the bolt stick in and feed that bolt up into the top hole. Fast forward as Mike replaces both bolts. Then just tighten them up. Take your harness and, if you have an old bulb still attached to it, just disconnect that bulb and the connect your harness to the new fog light. If you need to adjust the level of your fog light there's a little thumb screw at the top and if you twist it clockwise it will go down. If you twist it counter-clockwise, it will go up.
