How to replace a broken, damaged or burnt out fog light bulb to the 08 Subaru Outback
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
To get to the fog lights you have to raise and support the vehicle because you need to unclip these two clips down the bottom and then there's one way up here if your vehicle still has it. And then if you have a trim clip tool you can use that to help pry it out. You might want to have new ones on hand because sometimes these break and you might have to break them to get them out of here. I'll just push the old part through. All right, so now I'm gonna pull this plastic shield out.
That's the fog light bulb. You can reach up behind it, turn it counter-clockwise to unlock it. Drop the ball right out. I'm gonna disconnect it. I'm gonna push the connector together and then push the lock. Open and then unplug it.
This is a 9006 bulb. This is basically a headlight bulb so you want to make sure you wear gloves and don't touch the glass on your new bulb because the oil from your skin can damage the bulb and reduce the life of it. This one's okay, so we're gonna plug it back in. Get some of the dirt out of there. Put it back in and it'll click together. It will go up into the housing. Got to find the slots that it fits into and turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
This will be the same exact procedure for the opposite side. We'll put the plastic shield back in place. Slide it up inside the bumper and line it up with the holes there. Reinstall the push clips. You can put just the center part in first and then, sorry, just put the outer part in and then the center in to lock it. So simply just push it out. If it doesn't want to come all the way out give them a little tug, push it in here. Reinstall this clip here.

See why replacing your cloudy headlights with new ones is always better than refinishing them Why should you replace your headlights and not clean or refinish them? Three reasons: It's a simple fix, it increases visibility, and it enhances the overall look of your vehicle. Headlights are made from a polycarbonate plastic that can be damaged by UV rays from the sun or suffer pitting caused by road debris light salt and rocks. If you look closely at an old set of headlights, you'll see that the lens is full of micro-cracks. This is called crazing. This crazing, along with pinning, will turn your headlights from crystal clear to hazy yellow and it cuts the output in half, making it very difficult to see at night. It also makes your car look old and dated. With parts from 1AAuto.com and our how-to videos, you can make your vehicle look new and stay safe on the road.
