How To Replace Fog Light and Bulb 2002-05 VW Passat

In this video, we show you how to service a fog light on this 2003 Volkswagen Passat. We show you both just changing a bulb, as well as how to replace the whole assembly, if you've had one that's broken. At 1A Auto, we sell very nice replacements. The only tool you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver. Servicing a fog light, is actually pretty easy.

If you look on this side over here, two louvers down, you'll see a little tab. You reach in behind. Let's see. Pull that tab. It actually pulls out. It's a little bit damaged. It's broken. Let's do that again. If your car's not damaged, you push in on this side and you squeeze here and pull this whole grille off, and your light's just held in by three screws, and I use a power screwdriver, just for speed. The light comes down and there's a little tab here. You push in and pull back, and that disconnects.

If you're looking to just service a bulb, this twists counter clockwise and comes off. Your bulb is right in here. Let's see. There's a couple of little wire locks here. They come undone. Your bulb comes out. It disconnects right here.

The new one can go in. Just reverse the procedure. Make sure your retainers go on the outside of the bulb. The bulb lines up with a square peg here and a round peg there. Put that retainer back on and put this retainer back on. If you had one that's broken, here's a replacement from 1A Auto. It's going to go in just like the original. Put that up in there.
