Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the lock and unlock button on the driver's side of a 2007 Pontiac G6, basically the same for model years 2005-2010. You'll need a new lock switch from 1A Auto, a Torx 30 driver, and a pocket screwdriver.
Use a pocket screwdriver and pull open that cover. Using a Torx 30 socket and extension and a socket wrench, remove the Torx 30 screw that goes through the door handle assembly. Pull out your door handle assembly, and then use a pocket screwdriver to pop off the cable. Use the pocket screwdriver again to press in on the tab for the harness that goes to the lock and unlock button, and pull that out.
Find the two tabs on either side of the housing that holds the button in and pry them apart gently, and then slide the button out.
Install the switch, and then reinstall the harness that goes to the back of the switch. Then you're going to connect the door lock cable. You're going to do so by putting the end of the cable into the hole, and then pressing the clip back down into the housing there. Then go ahead and slide it back in and line up your screw hole. Reinstall the Torx 30 screw that goes through the door handle and into the door. Then close the little cover that covers it up.
